League By-Laws
Fees: The total cost for league play is $352/person for non-course members;$80/person for course members. . Each member is expected to pay by the start of the season.Please come prepared to play, EVEN IF IT IS RAINING. The decision to play or not, will be made at the course.
1. Substitutions: You are responsible for contacting your substitute!! A team may consist of 1 or 2 subs. Subs without established handicap will use a handicap based on that day’s score. 3 weeks are needed to establish a handicap. Regardless of handicap, sub scores will be matched against the league member’s regularly scheduled opponent.
2. Make-up Matches:Make-up matches are not allowed. For proper handicap calculations, all players must play under identical weather conditions.
3. NO SHOWS: Eight points are awarded to each player whose opponent is a “No Show” (16 pts/team). Score for unopposed player is not used for handicap.
4. Handicaps: Handicaps are 80% of the difference between your score and the course par per side played. Handicaps will be figured on average of the middle 4 scores from previous 6 scores. Scores from previous years are carried over. Players without established handicaps will get 80% of the difference from par for first score. Second and third scores will be the 80% of the average for scores. After 3 scores, the player will have an established handicap. Strokes are used on the hardest holes (according to the scorecard) on the nine you are playing. Low handicap and high handicap players on each team will play each other. A substitute will play against his scheduled opponent regardless of handicap.
5. Scoring: There are 22 points available in a match (foursome.) 11 points per twosome: 1 point for each hole won, ½ point each for ties and 2 points for low net. If play has commenced and discontinued due to rain and / or lightning, all unplayed holes will be considered tied and the points split.
6. Players under the age of 65 play from White Tees. Players 65 and over at the start of the season may play from Gold Tees.
WINTER RULES APPLY “Fluffing” is allowed through out the course. Plugged balls in either rough or fairway, may be picked, cleaned and placed without penalty. Balls under bushes, trees,or behind trees etc must be treated as Unplayable lies.
1. OUT OF BOUNDS : League will follow out-of-bounds as described on the course scorecard. Out-of-bounds off tee is dropped along line of entry. PENALTY 1 STROKE
2. ROPED OFF AREA: drop 2 club lengths outside stakes, not closer to the hole. No PENALTY
3. WATER HAZARD: Place ball behind hazard. PENALTY 1 STROKE LATERAL WATER HAZARD: Red stakes. Drop within 2 club lengths on line of entry PENALTY 1 STROKE
4. UNPLAYABLE LIE: Move laterally until swing is clear PENALTY 1 STROKE
5. LOST BALL: In Woods or Brush: 1 MIN. SEARCH Drop anywhere along line of entry. PENALTY 1 STROKE
6. LOST BALL In Rough: 1 MIN. SEARCH Place in vicinity: PENALTY 1 STROKE
7. LOST BALL In Fairway or Drainage Ditch: 1 MIN. SEARCH Place ball in vicinity. NO PENALTY
8. PLUGGED BALL: Fairway or rough, pick, clean & place. NO PENALTY
9. DRAINAGE DITCHES: Place behind point of entry. NO PENALTY
10. CASUAL WATER or BALD SPOTS: ON THE GREEN: Between your ball and the hole, move ball laterally until clear. NO PENALTY. IN THE FAIRWAY: If ball or stance is in water, move ball laterally until clear. This includes any body of water that has clearly overflowed into the fairway, or fairway grass uncut because of wet conditions. BALD AREAS & GROUND UNDER REPAIR: Treat as Casual Water, NO PENALTY.
11. Sand Traps: Rake and Place within the Sand Trap.
PUTTING:
PLEASE DO NOT CONCEDE PUTTS!! Once you begin to putt, you may continue until you have holed out, unless your stance is in another’s line. If so, mark your ball, wait your turn, then putt out. PS - nobody follows this rule.
Ball pinned over hole by flagstick is considered ‘holed’ if any part of ball rests below grass level.
Unless Noted above play USGA Rules of Golf.
